Trick or Treat!
When the campers arrived at lunch today, they found that they had all checked their calendars incorrectly… Although they awoke this morning with the belief that the that the date was July 1st, they discovered that so much “camp time” had already passed that today was in fact October 31st! As a result, all campers and staff arrived at dinner fully dressed in Halloween costumes. Campers dressed as giant candy corn, wolves, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Three Blind Mice, and more commenced “Trick for Treating,” during which they travelled throughout camp and performed various activities in an attempt to fill their bags with candy. Some of these activities included building a human pyramid while singing the ABCs, counting to ten in Hebrew, and doing a three legged race with 7 campers tied together, instead of the usual two. While camp’s Halloween was great fun for both campers and staff, the event also provided an opportunity for the oldest campers in camp—the Tuscarorans and the LITs—to take charge and guide the younger campers from station to station. Campers both young and old enjoyed each other’s company, and everybody loved the end of the activity, when all campers were given free canteen before heading back to their villages. All in all it was a great Halloween, and a great night at Camp Seneca Lake!
