G’day!
I am Rob West, the new Athletics Head Specialist at CSL. It is my first summer here at camp. I hope that this note leaves you with a better understanding of being a new staff member at CSL.
It was a long flight from Australia, however, it was entirely worth it! I have never felt so openly welcomed into a new group of people. My experience at CSL so far has been very inspiring. I didn’t know what to expect coming into camp as a new staff member and Head Specialist. In my opinion, this position holds great responsibility. I didn’t want to break any traditions, change games around, or get the rules wrong in Speedball or Newcomb (both of which are new to me!)
I am overwhelmed by the amount of support and understanding that the CSL community has shared with me. I have set a summer goal for myself to leave the Athletics Department in greater standing than the way that I found it. I have begun to implement ideas and staff and campers alike are on board! For this, they have my thanks and gratitude.
I want to leave you with one last thought: though I have only been here with the campers for less than a week, I already love it here so much that I hope to come back next year!
